IEC 61439 & SCADA

Modern industrial facilities operating heavy continuous-process machinery cannot afford unscheduled electrical tripping or arc-flash hazards. Achieving zero-unplanned-downtime distribution requires strict adherence to international switchgear assembly standards.

1. Why Form 3b / Form 4b Compartmentalization Matters

Under IEC 61439-1/2 guidelines, internal separation protects plant maintenance personnel and prevents fault propagation. Form 3b separates busbars from functional units, while Form 4b completely isolates incoming/outgoing terminals in individual metallic barriers.

Vishwa Powertech fabricates Power Control Centers (PCC) up to 6300A with 65kA for 1-second short-circuit withstand capacity, utilizing electrolytic E91-grade copper busbars and heat-shrinkable insulation sleeves.

Switchgear Component Standards
  • Air Circuit Breakers (ACB): Siemens 3WA / Schneider MTZ with microprocessor trip units.
  • Molded Case Breakers (MCCB): Microprocessor-based short-time delayed (S-selective) clearing.
  • Protection Relays: Numerical overcurrent, earth fault, and arc-flash optical sensor relays.

2. SCADA Telemetry & Modbus RTU PLC Integration

Legacy manual switchgear lacks real-time visibility. Modern PCC/MCC panels feature integrated Siemens S7-1200 or Schneider Modicon PLCs linked via RS485 Modbus RTU / Ethernet IP to central plant SCADA systems.

Plant engineers monitor live voltage, current harmonics, power factor, busbar temperature via wireless IR sensors, and remote ACB open/close commands directly from central control room HMIs.

3. Custom Engineering & EPLAN Schematic Design

Every switchgear panel built in our Gujarat manufacturing facility undergoes 3D EPLAN CAD schematic drafting, thermal dissipation calculations, primary/secondary current injection testing, and high-voltage withstand FAT verification prior to site dispatch.
